Oxyfuel cutting

Oxyfuel cutting

Gestión de Compras have the means to get the parts manufactured by oxyfuel cutting.

Process of Oxyfuel cutting

Oxyfuel cutting is an industrial thermal process which a mixture of oxygen and the fuel gas is used to preheat the metal to its “auto ignition” temperature while a jet of pure oxygen is directed into the preheated area instigating an exothermic chemical reaction between the oxygen and the metal.

Only metals whose oxides have a lower melting point than the base metal itself can be cut with this process. O nly low carbon steel and some low alloys meet condition and can be cut effectively with the oxy-fuel process.

This process has a lower edge quality than waterjet or laser, but oxyfuel low cost equipment and the cutting speed made this operation competitive. Equipment can be used manually or mechanised.

Types of oxyfuel cutting

Some types of oxyfuel cut, according to fuel gas that it uses, are

  • Oxy-acetylene: It is the most common type ofoxyfuelcutter.
  • Oxy-gasoline
  • Oxyhydrogen
  • MAPP gas
  • Propane/butane gas

A very important factor in this process is the oxygen purity which affects the cutting quality and cutting speed. A high quality oxygen (purity between 99.5% and 100%) has a good quality and speed of cutting. When the purity decreases to 95 the cutting operation ceases.

Production

In Gestión de Compras we provide products manufactured by oxyfuel cutting. We have the means to cut parts directly from CAD Data or drawings with the desired material and quality.

Materials and products

Oxyfuel cutting are capable only low carbon steel and some low alloys meet the above condition and can be cut effectively with the oxy-fuel process.

Elements such as:

  • Manganese
  • Silicon
  • Phosphorus
  • Sulphur

They have very little effect in normally found levels. But other elements such as chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and carbon generally reduce the ability of the material to be cut.

The process can be used for a diverse range of applications from manual rough severing and scrap cutting to precision contour cutting in fully automated systems.

Standard and certificates

We have the means to ensure our products comply the general regulation and the specific certificated regulations in manufacturing products that requires them.

  • ISO 9001, TS 16949 and ISO 14001
  • OHSAS 18001
  • ISO 5175,ISO 2503,ISO 17658, ISO 9013, etc.
